Pour some olive oil in a hear resistant bowl and warm it up in a microwave. Then have someone part your hair with a comb and apply the warm olive oil sparingly to the scalp.

Leave it there for about 15-20 minutes before you shampoo and rinse thoroughly. Do this at twice a week at first. When your dandruff is reduced, do it once a week or once every two weeks.

Another "oil" that is also an effective home remedy for dandruff is tea tree oil. Used for ages as an antiseptic, antibiotic and antifungal agent, tea tree oil is very effective in controlling yeast organisms.

Apply tea tree oil directly to your scalp and leave it there for about 20 minutes before you apply your shampoo - then rinse. Or alternatively, you can buy a medicated shampoo that contains tea tree oil.

You may need to experiment with various shampoos because one particularly brand may be more effective than the other.
