Do You Need An Effective Free Home Cure?

As a someone who grew up with grandparents, I was exposed to many a home cure courtesy of grandma. There was one in particular that maybe is a little embarrassing to write about because it involved my grandma using urine to solve a discomfort I was experiencing when I was about 5 or 6. But that home remedy worked like a charm.

Home remedies may include, spices, vegetables, herbs, leaves or some common items around the house.

Grant it that some of these home treatments may induce the placebo effect, similar to when a child’s mother kisses a bruise and the child instantly thinks he is better, some work well.

Home treatments tend to be more effective in treating mild ailments or annoyances such as the earaches, common cuts, cold, coughs, headaches, fever, pimples, sinusitis, sprains and rashes.

One very effective home cure that was give to me as a child was ginger tea. This was introduced whenever I had a “cutting pain” in my stomach.

My grandma would always have ginger in the house. She would cut a piece of it and boil it in water and then give me the tea to drink. It always gave me relief; very often to the point where the pain vanished shortly after.

Being from a family where money was limited, home cures like ginger tea was a money-saver. No need to run down to the drug store to buy some expensive over the counter drug.

But as good as some natural home remedies are, please exercise some judgment and go see a physician when necessary. For example, if you are using a natural home remedy to treat a fever but the fever is prolonged or not subsiding, for God’s sake, see a doctor.

If there is a stubborn swelling in some extremity that despite home treatment is not getting better, see your health care provider. Especially where children are concerned, take extra care as to what home treatment you give them and monitor their progress closely.

Warning aside, read up on natural home remedies either in books or by reading the remedies outlined below. You could also talk to the older folks and learn from them.

You never know when a simple, effective home remedy, might come in handy.
